Since its establishment in 1884, Wilderness School has been at the forefront of girls’ education. A non-denominational day and boarding school from Early Learning to Year 12, Wilderness School understands and caters to the needs of each individual. At Wilderness, we strive to enable each student to be the best that she can be.
The School is seeking passionate Sports Coaches and Supervisors to join the School’s co-curricular winter sporting program commencing in Term 2, 2024.
Sports Coaches
We are inviting expressions of interest from experienced and qualified coaches for the following sports:
- Netball
- Football
- Soccer
- Badminton
- Hockey
Netball
Netball training sessions occur on weekday mornings from 7am – 8am and weekday afternoons from 3pm - 5:30pm. Due to the number of girls participating in netball teams, netball training occurs most mornings and afternoons. Please provide details as to what mornings / afternoons you are available. All competition for netball is held on Saturday mornings from 8am.
Football Coaches
Football training sessions occur on Tuesday afternoons from 3pm – 5:30pm. Competitions are held on Friday afternoons from 4pm – 5.30pm.
Soccer Coaches
Soccer training sessions occur on Monday mornings from 7am – 8am, with competition on Wednesday afternoons from 4pm – 5.30pm.
Badminton Coaches
Badminton training sessions occur on weekday mornings from 7am – 8am and weekday afternoons from 3pm - 5:30pm. Due to the number of girls participating in badminton teams, badminton training occurs most mornings and afternoons. Please provide details as to what mornings / afternoons you are available. All competition for badminton is held on Saturday mornings from 8am.
Hockey Coaches
Hockey training occurs Tuesday morning 7am – 8am. Competitions are Saturday mornings from 8am.
Coaches provide quality mentoring and coaching to enhance and develop our students’ technical skills and game knowledge in order to reach their individual potential both as athletes and young people.
Coaches are sought who have the following:
- Level 1 coaching accreditation (desirable).
- Previous coaching experience, preferably with school aged students.
- Strong knowledge of skills, technique and drills in relevant sport.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate effectively and professionally to parents, students and staff.
- Proven capacity to operate in a collaborative, professional, confident, and confidential manner.
- Evidence of ethical behaviour.
Coaches are required to have the following:
- Ability to provide First Aid to students, coaches or parents, if required. A current Provide First Aid qualification is required.
- Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) volunteer training certificate.
- Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
Supervisors
We are also inviting expressions of interest for Supervisors to support our coaches during the School’s co-curricular winter sporting program commencing in Term 2, 2024.
Supervisors provide pastoral care to our sporting teams by providing first aid treatment, reporting any injuries / incidents, and overseeing behaviour of students. Supervisors do not need to be sportspersons.
Supervisors are sought to have the following:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate effectively and professionally to parents, students and staff.
- Proven capacity to operate in a collaborative, professional, confident, and confidential manner.
- Evidence of ethical behaviour.
Supervisors are required to have:
- Ability to provide First Aid to students, coaches or parents, if required. A current Provide First Aid qualification is required.
- Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) volunteer training certificate.
- Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).

If you are interested in becoming a Sports Coach at Wilderness, please outline in your response your preferred sport that you would like to coach, as well as your availability.
