The Costume Assistant is an entry-level position that is perfect for individuals looking to get into the industry. This job offers an excellent opportunity to explore the different roles within the costume department and identify the area where you excel. As a junior member, you will be assigned various tasks, alternating between office work and on-set support when required.
Your responsibilities include basic costume maintenance, collecting and delivering costumes to set locations, specialised makers, and retailers, replenishing costume supplies, and maintaining fitting rooms. Additional tasks may include minor purchasing responsibilities, helping in the workroom, assisting with departmental paperwork, tracking rentals, coordinating laundry, supporting standbys, helping dress extras, assisting with art finishing, and participating in general office duties. This job often involves significant driving duties, especially if there is no dedicated costume runner.
