Where you’ll be working
You will be working with a diverse and dynamic team within the System Performance Support Branch (SPS), System Sustainability and Performance Division based at 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards, NSW 2065.  The System Performance Support Branch is leading the technical stream of a program of work to design, test, build and rollout a new Dynamic State Patient Allocation Matrix across the state in both metropolitan and rural areas over a 24-month period.  A new Dynamic State Patient Allocation Matrix provides NSW with a unique opportunity to change the way we distribute patients to emergency departments and other appropriate care destinations, via NSW Ambulance. 

This exciting opportunity will allow you to work across many areas of the NSW Health system, including the Ministry of Health, NSW Ambulance, Local Health Districts/Specialty Health Networks and other partner agencies, to deliver a transformative change for our patients, carers and staff.

About the Role 
The SQL Developer is responsible for the development of key enterprise solutions for NSW Health including and not limited to:

  • Dynamic Statewide Ambulance Matrix
  • Electronic Recommendation for Admission (eRFA) Portal
  • Elective Surgery Demand and Capacity Dashboard
  • Patient Flow Portal
  • Patient Flow Dashboard
  • Community Care Modules
  • Clinician Billing Portal
  • Revenue Portal
  • All other State ODS Program initiatives as commissioned by NSW Health

These applications consume large amounts of real-time data from numerous source systems used by over 25,000 staff from the Local Health Districts, Ministry of Health, Ambulance NSW, Health Share, eHealth, the Pillars and interstate jurisdictions (ACT Health and Network with Victoria).
 
The SQL Developer will be highly proficient in Microsoft SQL Server, SQL development best practices, database design and development, database performance optimisation and monitoring database server performance.

Selection Criteria 

  1. Experience (>2 years) working as a Microsoft SQL Server developer.
  2. Experience (>2 years) with database technologies and highly proficient in the use of SQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups and SQL Enterprise Editions.
  3. Experience (>2 years) working independently when required as well as in a Team based environment.
  4. Experience (>2 years) working in both project and production support environments.
  5. Experience (>1 years) working with source control, GIT and RedGate SQL Source Control.
  6. Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to complete root cause analysis to identify the cause of issues and implement solutions.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate issues and solutions in a simple manner.
  8. Relevant educational background including current Microsoft SQL certifications with preference for MCSE Data Management and Analytics, MCSA SQL 2016 Database Development and a Bachelor degree or Diploma in Information Technology (or equivalent).

COVID-19 Vaccination Compliancy 
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
