Access theAbout the roleThe position of Staff Specialist Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (AODS) will focus on the needs of consumers presenting with acute mental health needs and/or opioid and other drug dependence.Applications will be accepted from candidates wishing to work within both addictions.About youOur ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge, expertise and skill in the assessment and clinical management of people with mental illness in a specialised mental health service setting.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills including the ability to provide high level clinical leadership advice and direction within a multidisciplinary team and to relevant stakeholders. Skills should include the ability to effectively problem solve and resolve conflict.
- Demonstrated commitment to leading mental health recovery model of care, evidence based practice and continuous quality improvement to enhance service delivery outcomes.
- Demonstrated expert level of national and state mental health directions and legislation relevant to the provision of specialist mental health services.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of effective training of junior medical staff.
- High level clinical expertise and comprehensive contemporary knowledge of the provision of consumer care in alcohol and other drugs service.
- Ability to manage the delivery of consumer care in area of specialisation and manage complex clinical situations.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, consumers and their carers.
- Ability to facilitate a learning environment by sharing knowledge and expertise, participating in teaching and research activities. An ability to demonstrate ongoing professional development of self and others.
- Evidence of the implementation of quality improvement and risk management initiatives to improve compliance, consumer safety and practice.
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiary or equivlant prostgraduate specialist qualification. An advanced certificate in Addictions would be preferable.
- Holds the Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine (FAChAM) or is in the process of completing the FAChAM or holds the advanced certificate in Addiction Psychiatry from the RANZCP or the equivalent or training towards the advanced certificate in Addiction Psychiatry from the RANZCP.
