The Hospital:

The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is the only major Paediatric and Obstetrics & Gynaecology Unit in Northern Tasmania. We provide a level 5 maternity service having about 1600 births per year.
Women's and Children's Services consists of a 6 bed Labour Ward, 27 bed Maternity Unit, 9 bed Level 2 Special Care Nursery that admits neonates
= 32 weeks gestation and access to medical/surgical beds for Gynaecology patients.
Medical staff includes, a team of registrars that are rostered on-site 24/7 and a mix of Staff Specialists and visiting medical specialists. There are also visiting specialist clinics including urogynaecology and Gynaecology oncology.
The role:
The Staff Specialist - Obstetrics & Gynaecology will:
- Provide specialist care to public and private patients.
- Be involved in research and quality improvement activities, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
- Provide specialist advice to inpatient units as required.
Details of Appointment
Fixed term, full time, day worker with on call position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until the 1st of February 2025

Specialist Medical Practitioners
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $217,802 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
- Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2022
- Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $25,758 per annum, pro rata
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,00 per annum, pro rata
- Relocation allowance
- On call allowance, % of Base Salary
- All other allowances as per current Award
- In addition, subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS).
Eligibility:

- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
- Current Working with Children Registration
