Staff Specialist Perinatal / Child & Adolescent - Psychiatrist An exciting new opportunity at Karitane to work as part of the integrated care team in our Fairfield Integrated Child and Family Hub. POSITION TITLE: Staff Specialist Perinatal / Child & Adolescent - Psychiatrist DEPARTMENT: Fairfield Integrated Child & Family Hub OPERATIONAL BASE: CarramarSTATUS: Part-time 8 hours per fortnight – Temporary Contract 12 monthsVACCINATION CATEGORY: A (including full COVID-19 - 2 doses and influenza Vaccinations)REPORTS TO: Integrated Care Hub Manager through to Director Clinical ServicesPURPOSE OF POSITION Karitane provides a range of services to families during pregnancy and early parenting. These include the Karitane Residential Units, Parenting Centres and Mental Health Services. Karitane Perinatal, Infant and Child Mental Health Services (PICMHS) comprise the Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (PIMH/Jade House) Team (antenatal through the first postpartum year), Toddler Clinic (15 months to 4 years) and the Kids Behaviour Clinic (children up to 6 years). The Toddler Behaviour Clinics deliver Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). The position is primarily based with the Fairfield Integrated Child & Family Hub but may include face to face or virtual consultation to various Karitane services and sites. The successful applicant(s) will play a vital role in developing perinatal and infant mental health services at Karitane. Supervision of advanced trainees and involvement in research with our university partners is anticipated. Potential for the successful applicant to apply for a university conjoint appointment. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA: ( each criteria listed below must be addressed in your cover letter) 1. Registered as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA. 2. Eligibility for Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (FRANZCP) within 6 months of appointment. 3. Advanced training in Perinatal and/or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent. 4. Clinical experience in perinatal/infant psychiatry (mental health) including assessment of and intervention with pregnant women and mothers in the first postpartum year, prescribing during pregnancy and lactation, and assessment and therapy with families with infants and young children. 5. Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team to provide integrated care to children and families. 6. Demonstrated ability to work with clients from CALD and refugee backgrounds in a culturally safe manner. 7. Understanding of principles of early intervention, prevention, and mental health promotion. 8. Current NSW license. 9. Experience in teaching and clinical supervision of mental health professionals. 10. Experience and willingness to participate in and/or lead research activities. The majority of Karitane services close for approximately two weeks over the Christmas/New Year period, during which time employees are required to take leave.
