About the role 
This role aims to enhance EA's impact on engineering issues and engage its membership. Collaborating with the Division General Manager, it supports the division's business plan, ensuring good governance, effective service delivery, and strong engagement with members, volunteers, and external stakeholders in industry, education, government, and the community. This role is deal for someone looking to step up and take on greater responsibilities or would like to get exposure in another division and industry. 

This is a short term engagement for 6 months, until end of Dec 2024. 

In this role you will you will:

  • Assist the Division General Manager in enhancing the impact, brand, and membership of Engineers Australia by developing and implementing a strategy, activity plan, and Stakeholder Engagement plan for your local state/territory. This should include member recognition and engagement, local policy activities, school engagement, local advocacy, media and communications, and industry roundtables.
  • Identify and establish impactful partnerships with new and existing stakeholders (across industry, education, government, community, and other industry bodies) to elevate Engineers Australia’s profile. Support the Division General Manager in maintaining and fostering these relationships
  • Collaborate with the Professional Development team on local event activities as needed.
  • Act as an ambassador for Engineers Australia by leading or participating in events and functions.
  • Support office bearers and volunteers in delivering impactful activities for EA, including partnering with the Division President and Committee.
  • Stay informed about issues related to engineering in your local area and beyond.
  • Assist the Division General Manager with office administration tasks.

We are looking for a candidate who can: 

  • Build relationships with senior individuals both internally and externally.
  • Contribute to the design of strategies and plans.
  • Comfortable hosting meetings and events, influencing, and working across teams without direct authority.
  • Demonstrate initiative and accountability.
  • Efficiently organize and prioritize work, gather resources, and deliver required outputs while managing multiple tasks.
  • Committed team player with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, delivering messages with enthusiasm, energy, and authority.
  • Possess or are eager to develop a working knowledge of (non-technical) engineering matters.
  • Background in delivering high-quality experiences and services.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: member or customer service/engagement, policy, advocacy, media, STEM, industry engagement, or corporate events.
