The Office of the Valuer-General (OVG) within the DTI is responsible and accountable for providing the regulatory policy and procedure framework for the State’s Land Valuation System and ensuring that the functions undertaken by the Service Provider, Land Services SA (LSSA), in performing statutory valuations across the State are compliant and effectively administered in accordance with the Valuation of Land Act 1971, and by supporting government decision making through the provision of professional valuation advice and strategic services.

The Statutory team seeks to ensure accurate and transparent valuations and principled decision making that supports fairness in property-based taxation.  The team provides high level customer service and delivery of the administration of the valuation grievance process and supports the Valuer-General in providing effective regulatory oversight of LSSA.

 The Role:

Working closely with the Managing Statutory Valuer and Statutory team, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Valuer to deliver a range of valuation functions to support the statutory, strategic and operational obligations of the Valuer-General.  This involves providing specialist advice including undertaking analysis, reviews and approval of valuation reports and recommendations to ensure timely and effective grievance processes are delivered to the community.  Responsibilities also include representing the Valuer-General at the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

About You:

OVG is seeking to recruit a dynamic team player with specialist valuation experience, excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for the property industry.

To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following key responsibilities:

  • Provision of specialist valuation advice, reports and services including engagement, communication and liaison with clients and stakeholders
  • Quality assurance processes including analysis, review and approval of valuation reports and recommendations including input into resolution of grievance matters
  • Undertaking valuations of residential, commercial and industrial, urban and rural land for statutory and other purposes.

EssentialQualifications and Licences

To be eligible you must:

  • Be qualified as a Valuer in accordance with the Land Valuers Act 1994 and Land Valuers Regulations 2010;
  • Be eligible for or have a current Associate or Fellow level Membership of the Australian Property Institute as a Certified Practising Valuer (CPV).
  • Have practised as a land valuer (whether in the service of the Government or privately) for a period (whether continuous or aggregate) of at least 3 years; and
  • Have a current Driver’s Licence.

  • Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.
  • Some out of hours and weekend work may be required.
  • Some intra/interstate travel may be required.

Remuneration:

PO3 – $99,788 min – $105,495 max
