The Opportunity
Come and discover the opportunity to join our Slabmaking team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Steel Production Analyst. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
In this essential role you will be responsible for completing routine sample preparation and chemical testing of samples received from the plant (steel and other raw materials). Working in a collaborative team environment, you will contribute to the delivery of excellent customer service by completing analyses, providing high quality samples, results and resolving instrument issues.
Specifically, you will be using OES (Optical Emission Spectrograph) , XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) spectrographs, heat, mass and oven analysis and some wet chemistry techniques.
You will join a well-established, professional team, working on a rotating 12-hour shift roster (2 days/2 nights – 4 off), Monday to Sunday. We offer a competitive salary package with attractive benefits and career development.
What Will You Do?
You will be self motivated, results driven with excellent communication skills, you will be responsible for:
- ensure sampling is of high quality to ensure accuracy of results
- conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment required for sampling, sample preparation and analysis and take any necessary corrective actions
- prepare solutions and standards required for both sampling and chemical analysis
- proactively identify opportunities to improve and streamline our procedures or testing
