About the roleWe are seeking a values-driven and proactive Store Assistant for our Hornsby Family store, to collect and move donated goods from point of entry to point of sale as directed by the Store Manager/Supervisor.Please note that this position is not a customer service role. This role is focused on Stock Management, lifting items of up to 20 kg, and operating a 2-tonne, manual transmission truck.This is a casual role based in Hornsby, NSW. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Store Manager. Salary and conditions are in accordance with General Retail Award Level 2. You will successfullyCarry out the pickup and delivery of all donated goods in accordance with written schedule under the direction of the Store manager, following the Work Health Safety Manual Handling procedures and other protocols. Operate a 2-tonne, manual transmission truck in a safe and effective manner, minimising the risk of injury or property damage.Ensure appropriate maintenance/service and cleanliness of the vehicle is maintained .Guide/train volunteers in delivery tasks. You will haveExperience working in role/s requiring heavy lifting (up to 20 kg) and the physical ability to safely lift loads of up to 20kg.A valid NSW C-Class Drivers Licence; ability to drive manual transmission.Demonstrated safety awareness.Minimum 1 year experience in driving and/or operating manual transmission vehicles.Experience in the recycling/transport industry (desirable).1 year+ experience in mentoring/training and managing staff (or ability to demonstrate capability to undertake).Sound presentation and communication skills (both oral and written) to be able to interact and network positively with a variety of people.Self-motivation and a strong work ethic. The ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively. Excellent team working skills, flexibility and a positive attitude.
