Key Responsibilities
- Offer flood and stormwater advice for properties and developments.
- Ensure high level of innovation, analysis, technical proficiency, and professionalism in all duties
- Conduct detailed designs and reviews for stormwater, flood, and water quality.
- Develop processes for easy access to flood information at lot and subdivision scale.
- Manage consultants to meet project deadlines and budgets.
- Adhere to latest standards and regulations while achieving practical, innovative outcomes meeting community/stakeholder needs.
- Review reports, provide clear, concise conclusions promptly.
- Write plain English reports proficiently.
- Investigate, recommend, and resolve issues.
- Follow Council policies and maintain confidentiality.
- Keep detailed records in Council systems.
- Coordinate consultant activities effectively.
- Provide clear, accurate status reports.
- Ensure timely, within-budget project progression.
- Maintain understanding of relevant Acts, standards, regulations.
- Collaborate with staff for best practices.
- Foster respectful, open communication.
- Disseminate information accurately and promptly.
- Manage activities professionally for best practice.
- Organise and participate in community consultation sessions, providing easily comprehensible technical advice.
Qualifications and Skills
- Civil or Environmental Engineering Degree or equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia at Member level, with extensive experience.
- Proficiency in GIS systems and TUFLOW modelling.
- Advanced technical, design, and analytical skills for stormwater drainage and flood mitigation, considering public domain and open space interface.
- Project management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Experience with MapInfo, WaterRIDE, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, DRAINS, XP Rafts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Project.
- Thorough understanding of Australian Rainfall and Runoff, Australian Runoff Quality.
- Experience in Floodplain Risk Management Studies and Plans development, familiarity with Floodplain Development Manual requirements.
- Logical decision-making ability.
- Advanced time management and organisational skills.
- Commitment to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and Risk Management.
