Permanent Full Time
Salary: $88,780.59up to $117,807.77per annum plus superannuation and a 3.5% Civil Liability allowance. Additionally, an option of a motor vehicle equalisation allowance ($10,450pa) may be considered.
(Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications)

About the Role
Join our Development Assessment and Certification Division us as a Development Engineer (Stormwater & Flooding). The Development Assessment and Certification Division is responsible for ensuring developments are assessed and constructed according to industry standards.
This essential role works closely with key internal and external stakeholders and focuses on providing assessment services, technical advice and provides recommendations on a variety of development applications and proposals.
This is a great opportunity to bring your planning knowledge and engineering experience with a focus on specific to Stormwater and Flooding and provide your specialist technical guidance.
Focused on customer needs, you will ensure that the design of developments within the City is based on your technical advice whilst satisfying Council's policies, planning controls and technical standards. Keeping abreast of innovation and change within the industry will influence your successful contributions in this role and improve our overall customer service delivery.

What You will be doing:
As the Development Engineer (Stormwater & Flooding) you will provide technical advice, prepare recommendations and assessment of development proposals, and applications - including complex and/or controversial development applications. You will assess flood studies and floodplain management aspects of proposals, road and stormwater design proposals.
Supporting and liaising with internal and external stakeholders across Council, you will provide your technical knowledge to make recommendations or amendments as required whilst ensuring to comply with relevant codes and policies.
With your technical knowledge and experience, you will utilise your judgement for complex engineering problems. Doing the necessary research to ensure compliance, you'll bring the ability to negotiate issues and facilitate outcomes of a highly technical nature. This is also a hands-on role, where you will provide on-site inspections and assess constraints and suitability of development proposals.
About you:
With your sound technical ability to succeed in this interesting and challenging position, you will bring attributes of initiative, commitment and cooperation and ability to adapt to change.
As an Engineering professional, you bring knowledge of the principles of flood behaviour and design of stormwater and flood mitigation works. You have experience working with a range of internal and external stakeholders with the ability to present your findings and translate technical outcomes to suit the audience.
