Salary: $70,000 to $80,000, plus superannuation
Position Summary:
This role requires mastering the basics of above and below ground drainage design for buildings, on-site detention tank design, rainwater tank design, pavement design, vehicular movements and clearance design,water quality and water sensitive urban design.
This role is also responsible for attending site inspections and preparing rainwater, stormwater and flood management and
reports. As the engineer progresses with their skill acquisition, they are able to correctly undertake more advanced calculations,
concepts and analysis as well as begin preparing preliminary designs under the supervision of a senior engineer.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- To listen, collaborate and communicate effectively with internal staff and external agencies;
- Undertake structural calculations, analysis and design to meet project requirements and in accordance with applicable
standards and design directives;
- Prepare hand sketches of designs and details;
- Undertake drainage, water quality and flood modelling in engineering software;
- Undertake Civil Engineering reports and assessments as required;
- Attend project meetings, design reviews and peer review of project documents as required;
- Check drafting work to ensure drawings detail the design requirements;
- Attend site inspections and facilitate builder site enquiries;
- Seek knowledge and understanding to continuously improve own practices and maintain professional accreditations;
- Undertake other duties as required by the business and requested by your manager.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree (Honours), with graduate membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia (GradIEAust);
- Civil engineering experience with knowledge of stormwater design, driveway, pavement and public domain design, water
quality, and WSUD;
- Proven problem solving and analytical skills, the ability to scope the work, gather data, analyse and formulate an opinion and
develop a solution or design (to think and deliver);
- Exercises sound judgement in engineering activities;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to engage and collaborate with external agencies (clients,
architects, builders);
- Ability to communicate and engage with other internal design team members;
- Ability to work in a small team environment;
- Keep abreast of new knowledge through continuing professional development activities;
- Proven ability to conduct site inspections, issue site instructions promptly and write reports;

- Experience in the following programs: DRAINS, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, MUSIC, AutoCAD, Civil3D.
