Job Description
The Strategic Programs Manager is instrumental in coordinating FRDC's portfolio of programmatic strategic investments and facilitating the successful implementation of cross-functional initiatives. The Strategy and Innovation group are responsible for investment in national complex areas, including: Climate resilience, ESG, Circular Economy, Decarbonisation. This role includes a delegated authority for evaluating programmatic investment proposals, financial approval of reports, and drafting/reviewing agreements and variations. Responsibilities also encompass continuous improvement of quality procedures and processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Engaging providers in a dialogue about programmatic investments, ensuring timely and budget-compliant proposals.
- Managing the external peer review process for reporting.
- Reviewing reports to approve content aligned with agreed deliverables and facilitating payments to providers.
- Engaging in relevant activities associated with programmatic investments, as required.
- Additionally, the Strategic Programs Manager collaborates with stakeholders on shared strategic national priorities, informing strategic planning and program design. They may act as a primary contact for FRDC's stakeholders.
- Collaborating cross-functionally to disseminate relevant information in a user-friendly format.
- Contributing to the evaluation of outputs to outcomes.
- Managing post-completion analysis for each project.
- Programmatic Strategic Investment Management:
- Coordinating the design, implementation, and management of programmatic investments addressing national shared strategic opportunities.

- Adapting communication to suit the understanding of the audience.
- Synthesising and effectively communicating complex concepts.
- Possessing exceptional written communication skills.
- Utilising investment management experience to successfully lead projects on time and within budget.
- Leveraging expertise in stakeholder engagement for effective coordination with RACs and IPAs.
- Experience in innovation and cross-functional methodologies.
- Expertise in cleansing, transforming, tracking, reporting, and analysing data.
- Proficiency in working with datasets from multiple sources.
- Skills in creating charts, graphs, and visuals from data.
- Proven experience in supporting organisations to be end-user-centric, showcasing skills in design thinking and human-centered design methodologies.
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant field
- In-depth knowledge of and experience in fishing and aquaculture sectors to be able to discuss needs, as well as effectively assess on-going investments.
- Must be prepared to travel as and when required.
- Must be willing to undergo all Pre-employment Medical and Police checks.
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- $116,000 to $124,000 + 11% superannuation, annually (depending on qualifications and experience)
- 12-month Fixed Term Contract
