The Moonee Valley Racing Club (MVRC) is recognised as one of the nation's leading and most innovative thoroughbred racing clubs. MVRC is offering a fantastic opportunity to join the team in the role of Strategic Project Manager reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. The role will play an integral part in the Clubs transformation initiatives as part of the 'Valley of Tomorrow' vision and the overall business transformation strategy.
MVRC is well underway with realising its vision to deliver an iconic new precinct. The project will transform the Moonee Valley Racecourse into a world class sports, community and entertainment precinct.
The project will create a world leading racing and entertainment precinct and reinforce Victoria's position at the pinnacle of the thoroughbred racing industry in Australia, delivering a night racing experience unmatched in international racing.
About the role
The Strategic Project Manager will oversee business transformation initiatives that align with the overall business transformation strategy at MVRC. The newly created role is pivotal in driving alignment, managing resources effectively, mitigating risks, fostering stakeholder buy-in, and ultimately delivering successful outcomes that support the broader business objectives.
The role requires a dynamic individual with strong project management expertise and the ability to collaborate with various department senior leaders to ensure successful execution.
The role requires a high level of cross-functional collaboration, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders whilst managing expectations to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
As a key member of the Project Transformation Office, you will develop comprehensive project plans, timelines and budgets whilst proactively identifying potential risks and developing mitigation plans.
This role will suit an experienced Project Manager with strategic thinking, strong project management skills, stakeholder management expertise, and a passion for creating a lasting legacy.
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, project management, organizational development, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience as a Project Manager, preferably in strategic business transformation.
- Strong understanding of business processes and the ability to align projects with organisational strategy.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- PMP or other project management certification.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong vendor management skills, including contract negotiation and oversight.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and manage project risks effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to communicate effectively across all stakeholders.
- Proficient in project management tools and software.
