This position will work closely with Council and external recreation facilities to place Wagga Wagga at the forefront to bring large sporting events to Wagga Wagga. The role will work to develop business cases and will assist with the planning, coordination and scheduling of Council’s sport and recreational facilities and programming to meet future community needs and expectations.

Access to Council’s Flexible Working Hours AgreementYour new role: As the Strategic Recreation Officer, you will play a critical role in promoting Wagga Wagga as a destination to hold major sporting events. Your primary responsibility is to orchestrate the activities of the Recreation Team within City Growth Division, ensuring alignment with Council's Recreation, Open Space and Community Strategy and Implementation Plan.
The role will have strong stakeholder engagement and will contribute to ensuring Wagga is a hub for recreational experiences. Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:Planning, Coordination and administration for the allocation of Councils sports facilities for user groups. Build strong relationships with recreation and sporting groups.
Providing quality customer service and effective administrative support for the functional areas of the Parks Operations Division. Provide input to the development of recreation facilities and programs based on trends and demands. Coordinate and administer Council input into sporting and recreational events.
Provide support for the to the Bookings functions within the Parks Operations Team. What you will need to succeed:We are looking for someone with:Qualifications in recreation, community development or related discipline
Class C Driver’s LicenceStrong organisational, time management and communication skills
