This positionwill work closely with Council and external recreation facilities to placeWagga Wagga at the forefront to bring large sporting events to Wagga Wagga. Therole will work to develop business cases and will assist with the planning,coordination and scheduling of Council’s sport and recreational facilities andprogramming to meet future community needs and expectations.

Your new role:
As the Strategic Recreation Officer,you will play a critical role in promoting Wagga Wagga as a destination to holdmajor sporting events. Your primaryresponsibility is to orchestrate the activities of the Recreation Team within CityGrowth Division, ensuring alignment with Council's Recreation, Open Space andCommunity Strategy and Implementation Plan. The role will havestrong stakeholder engagement and will contribute to ensuring Wagga is a hubfor recreational experiences.
Key responsibilities ofthe role include but are not limited to:
- Planning, Coordination and administration forthe allocation of Councils sports facilities for user groups.
- Build strong relationships with recreation andsporting groups.
- Providing quality customer serviceand effective administrative support for the functional areas of the ParksOperations Division.
- Provide input to the development of recreationfacilities and programs based on trends and demands.
- Coordinate and administer Council inputinto sporting and recreational events.
- Provide support for the to the Bookingsfunctions within the Parks Operations Team.
What you will need to succeed:
Weare looking for someone with:
- Qualificationsin recreation, community development or related discipline
- ClassC Driver’s Licence
- Strongorganisational, time management and communication skills
- General Construction Induction Training Card
