Council’s Economic Development & Tourism Branch is recruiting for the position of Strategic Tourism & Marketing Officer – R2439.
Position Objectives The officer will be responsible for:
Development and delivery of a range of effective tourism destination marketing and industry initiatives specifically aimed at growing the regions visitor economy.
Developing the capabilities of new and existing tourism operators
Collaborating with Industry bodies and members of Murray Regional Tourism Board, Visit Victoria, Wentworth Regional Tourism and industry in working together, promoting and attracting visitors to the Mildura Rural City and growing the regions exposure. Explore and achieve efficiencies of scale in relation to these partners. Increasing our regions visibility across local, national and international platforms to elevate our capabilities and visitor economy.
Qualifications and Experience Ideally the successful applicant will have the following:
Degree/Diploma level qualification or relevant substantial experience in Tourism, Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management or a related discipline.
Current Drivers Licence.
High standard of written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to liaise confidently with all members of the public and staff.
Significant knowledge and understanding of the Tourism and events industry specifically in the Sunraysia region and more broadly across Victoria and Australia. Hold a current satisfactory Police Check or willingness to obtain.
Salary and Conditions The position is classified within Band 7 of Council’s Current Enterprise Agreement ranging from $101,930 to $114,058 per annum plus statutory superannuation.
