Permanent - Full timeSalary: Band 6 - $90,571 - $99,983 + superannuationRole includes an RDOStep into a role where you can truly make a difference!The Capital Works department is seeking to engage a suitably qualified Strategic Traffic and Transport Engineer. The Strategic Traffic and Transport Engineer will contribute to the planning, development and implementation of strategic plans to guide and address Hobsons Bay Traffic and Transport issues and opportunities across all modes of transport.What you’ll be working on

• Keeping traffic data up to date to inform decision-making and enhance Traffic and Transport management strategies.
• Assisting in creating conceptual designs for traffic engineering projects under supervision.
• Helping to prepare comprehensive funding applications and documentation for State and Federal Grants related to Traffic and road management initiatives.
• Providing professional advice to achieve sustainable and strategic transport outcomes within capital works projects, land use planning and development, strategies, and policies.
• Assisting in the development and implementation of strategic plans and studies for improved Traffic and Transport outcomes within the municipality, such as Local Area Movement Plans and Better Places initiatives.
• Supporting the implementation and delivery of the Hobsons Bay Integrated Transport Plan actions.
• Delivering Traffic and Transport management activities, including responding to customer requests, executing strategic transport projects, and continually improving Council's movement network.

What you need to succeed

• A tertiary qualification in civil engineering, transportation planning, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge and skills in all levels of integrated transport planning, including walking, cycling, public transport, freight, and motor vehicle transport, and their relationship to land use planning.
• Detailed understanding of the provisions of the Acts, Regulations, and Australian Standards relevant to traffic engineering, including VicRoads standards and Australian traffic engineering guidelines.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
