We have an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Transport Planner to join the Traffic and Transport department. Nillumbik Shire Council has a large road and footpath network set within a mixed urban and rural environment. Our community is actively involved in traffic, transport and development issues with traffic management being regularly recognised in the top 10 most important functions of Council. This position is responsible for working across the organisation in the overarching development of Council's strategic thinking capability, policy development and review relating to traffic and transport management.
A typical day within this role;
o Providing a high level of issue-specific and project-based transport planning expertise to the Traffic and Transport Department, other internal departments, Council and the community to ensure good outcomes for Nillumbik Shire Council aligned to the delivery of the Council Plan
o Coordinating the preparation of research, advice and policy, using holistic and cross-enterprise approaches in order to position Council to respond to challenges and capitalise on opportunities aligned to the delivery of Nillumbik Shires Integrated Transport Strategy.
o Actively contributing to the development of transport planning capabilities and knowledge sharing throughout Council
o Working with Nillumbik and its broader community to achieve traffic and transport outcomes, and
o Providing very high levels of service to internal and external customers.
What you'll bring to the role;
o A relevant tertiary qualification in transport planning, urban planning or a closely related discipline with extensive relevant professional experience, preferably in a local government environment
o Significant experience in Transport Planning with local and state governments
o High-level written and verbal skills
o Ability to advocate on Councils position in traffic/transport-related matters
o Highly motivated and enthusiastic individual
o Highly developed skills in adaptive problem-solving and stakeholder engagement, particularly those involving complex concepts, to achieve quality outcomes, and
o Demonstrated experience in Project Management.

Competitive salary package of $115,379 - $128,854 total remuneration per annum that includes 11% super, annual leave loading and monthly RDO.
