We are seeking a passionate and driven Economic Strategy Advisor to join our dedicated team and help steer our city's economic trajectory towards success. Your primary focus will be on developing, implementing, and evaluating economic policies and strategies. Collaborating across council and with external stakeholders, you will provide strategic advice on economic issues and effectively communicate changes in our city's economy through various channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and coordinate key economic strategies, policies and action plans.
- Analyse trends and engage with stakeholders to understand the changing nature of the city’s economy and proactively communicate these changes to the public.
- Collaborate and coordinate across council to design, develop, deliver and promote economic projects that give effect to strategic aspirations.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with business, industry, government bodies, and not-for-profits to realise economic outcomes.
- Champion a place-based approach to economic development and support the progression of specialised and highly innovative economic precincts, including Tech Central.
- Support the progression of key economic sectors in the city, including tech, startup, green and sustainable finance, and develop investment attraction approaches in partnership with NSW government and others.
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of economic development programs, ensuring our strategies are delivering tangible results for the city.
- Drive thought leadership initiatives that position the City as a leader in sustainable, inclusive and innovative economic growth.
Essential Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Economic Development, Strategic Planning, Urban Planning, Public Policy, or Commerce.
- Proven experience in innovative economic or strategic planning, with the ability to manage complex projects and stakeholders effectively.
- Strong conceptual reasoning abilities and an ability to synthesize complex information to aid and inform decision-making.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience preparing high-level reports and engage effectively with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to form and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
