About the team:
The Virgin Australia Airline Partnerships team is a group function that works closely with commercial and operational teams across Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer. The team manages Virgin Australia Group's relationships with existing and potential airline partners. This includes partnerships involving traffic (codeshare and interline), and loyalty (reciprocal points accrual and redemption agreements, high value guest recognition and lounge arrangements).
The team ensures that Virgin Australia's airline partnership strategy aligns with the overall group strategy. They ensure that partnerships are positioned and optimised to provide seamless customer and member experiences and maximise value creation for the group. The team manages relationships and agreements and facilitates interactions with internal Virgin Australia functions that touch partnerships with other airlines
About the role:
Based in the Virgin Australia HQ in South Brisbane, the Strategy and Insights Specialist will play a pivotal role in developing and championing data-driven insights across Virgin Australia by assisting the Airline Partnerships team in maximizing value creation across all activities.
Furthermore, you will support the Airline Partnerships Team and other internal stakeholders with analysis and insights to ensure that team activities are positioned to maximize value creation; budgeting and forecasting activities; and the identification and assessment of partnership opportunities and initiatives.
In addition, you will:
- Assist in developing and refining the Airline Partnerships team strategy
- Prepare business cases to support recommendations for partnership opportunities and initiatives. Develop presentations for senior leadership teams as required.
- Diagnose trends and analyse insights, working with Airline Partnership Specialists to convert insights into actions and prioritise team activities
- Manage reporting and dashboards across airline partnerships, building and maintaining reports. Maintain close relationships with internal teams managing enterprise-level data sets and reporting infrastructure.
- Identify opportunities to automate and simplify data-driven tasks across the team.
- Carry out market and competitor analysis to identify trends and provide recommendations for future business activity.
- Assist in annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes
- Perform regular data validation activities as required.
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline (such as economics, management, mathematics, or a commercial discipline).
- Experience working with complex and multi-source data sets to deliver actionable insights, and developing presentations to communicate insights to a range of stakeholders Knowledge of financial planning and analysis concepts
- Experience in strategy or insights function, or a role involving quantitative analysis.
- Data analysis skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerBI.
- Experience building reports and dashboards to be used in commercial optimisation functions.
