About our Strong Young Women’s Program
Red Dust partners with communities in the Top End and Central Desert regions of the Northern Territory. Our Strong Young Women’s (SYW) Program is a secondary school and community-based health promotion and wellbeing program targeting a diverse age group of females. Red Dust Strong Young Women’s Program is delivered through weekly or fortnightly visits to secondary schools, youth justice centres, in urban settings along with on-country camps, and tailored projects that support SYW Program delivery in remote communities.
The SYW Program engages Aboriginal women, elders and youth that support safe spaces for expression, nurturing strong voices, by leaning into and continuing to build on existing connections, which nurtures two way learning, one that is guided by local knowledge, leadership, and strong culture.
This program stream supports young women to build and maintain a healthy mind, body and spirit through a culturally safe and integrated framework. Key themes such as healing, family, culture and language are embedded with Red Dust SYW Program providing supported access to positive health messaging, social, wellbeing through cultural activity and engagement to support positive outcomes.
