Beyond Steel Pty Ltd, a leading name in structural steel fabrication, is seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Engineering Draftsperson to join our growing team. This is a full-time position, and in this role, you will play a vital role in transforming engineering designs into clear, concise, and manufacturable workshop drawings.
Responsibilities:
- • Interpret and analyse complex engineering designs and specifications, ensuring all sketches, charts, tabulations, plans, and designs are meticulously prepared for a variety of civil engineering works, including drainage, water supply, sewerage reticulation systems, roads, airports, dams, bridges, and other structures.
- Employ industry-leading detailing software, such as Tekla Structures or equivalent, to develop precise and efficient 3D models and 2D shop drawings, while guaranteeing compliance with Australian Standards (AS) and industry fabrication best practices.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to troubleshoot technical issues, optimizing the resolution process to meet stringent project deadlines.
- Oversee and conduct rigorous fieldwork and laboratory testing, utilizing advanced surveying instruments and photogrammetric equipment to ensure data accuracy for the design and maintenance of civil works.
- Collect, analyse, and perform computations on critical data sets, applying this information to produce accurate material cost estimates and verify that completed works conform to specifications, regulations, and contractual agreements.
- Execute thorough inspections of civil engineering works, coordinating and overseeing essential maintenance and repair operations to uphold structural integrity.
- Conduct comprehensive field and laboratory tests of construction materials and soils, contributing valuable data for traffic surveys and other civil project requirements.
- Uphold an exceptional standard of quality control, demonstrating a keen attention to detail across all tasks, from preliminary sketches to final project delivery.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in structural steel detailing.
- Proficiency in Tekla Structures or similar detailing software (AutoCAD a plus).
- Strong understanding of structural steel components, fabrication processes, and relevant Australian Standards (AS).
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Have excellent English communications skills in all forms (email, phone, verbal) and be able to maintain effective communication and relationship to drafting team on a continual basis to meet effective client and staff outcomes. This includes generation of RFI’s and ROC’s (record of communications).
