The role of the Student Activities Officer is to assist students to adjust to life in an Australian tertiary environment through coordination of activities, events, and services that promote social transitions and a culture of engagement within UQ College.
About UQ College
UQ College provides international and domestic students with access to further and higher education through the delivery of high-quality pathway programs: the Foundation Program, the Bridging English Course, the Tertiary Preparation Program and several Vocational Education and Training (VET) Programs. In addition to pathway programs, UQC is rebuilding its long-standing partnerships with clients, partners, and institutions to strategically grow standalone English language enrolments, and Customised Programs and Study Tours.

About the role
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Organise and promote a schedule of student engagement activities and events to enhance the UQC student experience.
- Proactively engage with the UQC student community to increase awareness and participation in UQC and campus life activities, including via orientation presentations, promotional communications and UQC social media.
- Facilitate activities sessions and accompany UQC students on excursions or activities where required.
- Extend access and opportunity for students to engage with a range of on-campus experiences and improve soft skills through extra-curricular and community activity.
- In partnership with other areas of the University assist students to adjust to life in an Australian tertiary environment through coordination of activities and services that promote community connection.
- Provide client service for students booking activities and excursions plus other associated services, such as weekend tours and accommodation.
- Liaise with UQ Sports to coordinate the provision of on-campus sports activities for students.
- Liaise with relevant divisions of UQC and external service providers to coordinate various aspects of group programs including excursion bookings, logistics, and group photos.
- Assist in the training and induction of volunteers involved in running activities.
- Organise the scheduled whole-of-College events.
About you - Selection Criteria
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
Essential
- A degree or an associate diploma, preferably in a relevant area, with at least 2 years subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of activities and events planning and delivery, including demonstrated ability in independent judgement, initiative, and creativity.
- Dynamic interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills and the ability to employ those skills to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a diverse student cohort.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and think strategically about the student experience, in partnership with a range of stakeholders including staff at senior levels.
- Computer literacy skills especially in respect of producing promotional materials and the use of social media to engage and communicate with students.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a busy work environment as part of an enthusiastic and highly motivated team of administrative and teaching staff.
Desirable
- Experience managing and delivering programs or events in an international education environment.
- Holder of current First Aid Certificate
