Fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Student Services Assistant to work with Student AppealsThis role is 35 hours per week commencing ASAP for a 6-month contract with flexible working arrangementsHEO 5 Step 1 $57.08 per hourStudents of USYD are not eligible to apply this positionAbout the opportunityThe Student Appeals Assistant works closely with the Student Appeals Manager and Student Appeals Officer, handling the triaging of appeals, scheduling of hearings and other administrative tasks associated with student misconduct and academic appeals. They foster clear, effective communication with stakeholders and address routine enquiries in a prompt and proactive manner. This position will assist with data input, communications and facilitating arrangements for all final internal appeals mechanisms for students.The University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity. As such, we see the importance in recruiting talent aligned to these values in the pursuit of research excellence.Your key responsibilities will be to:support daily operational tasks such as updating an appeals log, hearing log, notifying relevant Case Officers of an impending matter, creating and populating share drive folders and general correspondence with stakeholders internal to the Universityprovide general support to the Appeals Unit, addressing routine enquiries and facilitating data inputassist with the creation of memos for cross checkingcorresponding with the Office of General Counsel (OGC) and external consultant solicitors to collate documents for hearingscreate Hearing Notices for stakeholders and sending them via the TRIM Workflowscheduling hearings based on the availability of members, collating Hearing Binders for stakeholders and creating agendaslodging appeals on behalf of students and moving them through the TRIM Workflowmaintaining accurate records and assist with the production of reportsarrange and facilitate catering support for hearings as well as room bookingslead by example in prioritising health and safety within daily operations, coordinate with peers for safety drills and training, and proactively identify areas for safety improvement within the work scope.About youdemonstrated experience managing multiple competing priorities using effective time management skills in a fast paced, time pressured environmentstrong attention to detailexcellent organisational and time management skillsexcellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in handling a wide range of enquiries and providing excellent customer serviceprevious experience in student administration within a tertiary education environment would be advantageous.Closing date: Sunday 19 May 2024 at 11.59pmPlease note that this position may close prior to the advertised date.
