The primary purpose of this position is to support work-integrated learning (WIL) placements in the Faculty of Science under the direction of the Placement Coordinator. The Placement Officer provides support to professional and academic staff in the Faculty's Schools to coordinate activities associated with WIL placements, ensuring compliance with all university and program requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
Provide timely and accurate information to students, staff, and internal and external stakeholders in line with University policies and procedures, Faculty guidelines, and relevant legislation;
Allocate students to placements based on a variety of methods including self-sourced, UQ-sourced, student preferences, and direct allocation;
Liaise with program directors and course coordinators to ensure placement diversity and resources are available to meet program obligations;
Identify and escalate risks and issues as appropriate;
Maintain records as relevant to placements in University corporate systems;
Assist in the development, implementation, and review of standard operating procedures related to Student Placements, and assist with implementing agreed change;
Assist with the implementation of strategies and work practices that will improve the work flow, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Faculty Student Placement area;
Assist with reviewing and managing the accuracy of information in University databases, websites and publications (e.g., guidelines), including Faculty websites and UQ Answers;
Provide secretarial support at meetings, committees and working parties as required;
Prepare, analyse and interpret reports from information management systems;
Location and Travel
The Faculty of Science is based at the St Lucia & Gatton campuses; some travel between campuses and other locations may be required.
This is a full-time (100%), continuing position. Part-Time / Job Share arrangements may be considered for the successful candidate/s.
At HEW level 5, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,396.47 - $86,029.78, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $90,553.87 - $100,654.84 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.
About YouAn undergraduate degree in a relevant area or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training.
A sound understanding of key administrative processes relevant to WIL placements, or the ability to rapidly gain such knowledge.
Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines, to exercise initiative and judgment, and to work independently and autonomously.
High level communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
The ability to work collaboratively and effectively within the team and across other organisational units.
A strong orientation to the provision of a high level of customer service and the ability to communicate with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Experience in a tertiary education institution or other large organisation in an area related to student administration is desirable.
Knowledge of University corporate systems and packages e.g., Microsoft office, SI-net, Business Objects, InPlace, StudentHub, and the use of CRM systems will be highly regarded
