Mount Lawley Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated Student Support Officer to join their support team.
As the Student Support Officer, you will assist in the coordination of the Student Support Program and in developing and introducing systems and intervention strategies which provide a responsive and effective support service for students, family members and staff. In addition, you will engage with administrative processes that ensure a responsive and effective Student Support service.
To be successful to the role you will ideally have high level communication skills, the ability to work autonomously within a team and possess skills in conflict resolution and negotiation, strong networking skills and the ability to problem solve difficult dilemmas. We are a dynamic and diverse educational community, with students and teachers - together with parents, community members and industry partners - all working collaboratively within a team environment.
Founded in 1955, Mount Lawley SHS is located 5 kilometres north of the Perth Central Business District (CBD). It comprises of three sub-schools: Years 7 & 8, Years 9 & 10 and Years 11 & 12. It hosts a Gifted and Talented Languages program, an approved Specialist Visual and Performing Arts program, a Music program and the innovative Aboriginal Excellence Program. The school offers a breadth of curriculum choices and has a rich history of student success and achievement.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships.
- Effective planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities within timelines.
- Good research, conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to identify problems and provide solutions.
- Skills and experience in working with individual or small groups of students experiencing difficulties.
- Knowledge of the youth sector, particularly local organisations, and services
