Student Support Officers / Chaplains have a great role to encourage and develop children and young people to become all they can be through individual support and small group programs. This role is part time, located in primary schools, and is ideal if you are looking to work during school hours, 6 hours per day in Parramatta area.
Bridging the Gap, in partnership with the Department of Education, provides tailored support for primary aged children in Public schools.
Qualifications
Do you have a Certificate IV in Youth Work or a Diploma in Ministry, Chaplaincy, Youth or Welfare. A Degree in education, social work, counselling or psychology will be highly regarded.
Employment is conditional upon verification of a valid Working with Children Check and Police Check.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and/or young people
- Experience facilitating small groups is desirable
- Demonstrated ability to connect with young people, build relationships and resolve conflict
- Experience working in a school environment would be an advantage
- Understanding of issues affecting CALD & ATSI children and young people
