As the first Catholic secondary college in the community of Yarrabilba, San Damiano College is perfectly placed between Brisbane’s CBD and the Gold Coast. Yarrabilba, as a master planned community in Logan - home to 45,000 residents on completion, is a vibrant growing community with a planned educational precinct within which San Damiano College is located.
The beautiful architecture of the college will cement San Damiano as a visibly Catholic college within the community and will complement St Clare’s Primary School located just 800 metres away. San Damiano College are seeking an enthusiastic Student Support Officer (Teacher Aide) to join our vibrant school community.
Our Student Support Officers work together as a team to support all of our students under the guidance of our Program Leader - Learning Enhancement.
Typical duties of a Student Support Officer at San Damiano College include:
- Assist student learning, either individually or in groups, where some discretion and judgement are involved in evaluating and assessing (under the supervision of an academic staff member/s) the learning needs of students.
- Within routines, methods and procedures carry out liaison between the teachers and the students
- Under direct and/or routine supervision, perform tasks of limited complexity, associated with classroom learning experiences, such as assisting teachers in preparing, implementing, and supervising learning programs.
- Support students in relation to their physical needs where some discretion and judgement are involved.
- Under the direction and guidance of the Program Leader - Learning Enhancement, complete administration tasks such as filing and data entry for NCCD, EASP etc.
- Attend extracurricular activities such as school excursions, SECA sport to assist with a designated student or groups of students.
- Assist in the collection and collation of data for NCCD and EASP purposes and processes.
The successful applicant will ideally have previous experience as a Student Support Officer and/or hold a minimum a Cert 3 in Educational Support.
Proven communication and interpersonal skills will be essential, as well as a willingness to work as part of a team to support the diverse learning needs of our students.
You will also demonstrate an ability and initiative to apply your skills in supporting students to achieve successful learning outcomes.
