Euroa Secondary College is the only state secondary school in the Shire of Strathbogie, located 90 minutes north of Melbourne on the Hume Highway. Our SFO (Student Family Occupation index) for 2024 is 0.5510.
Our students attend the college from a radius of 60km with the support of eight school buses of which two are operated by the college. For 2024 we have 282 students and 60 staff members which includes 35 Teachers and Tutors (27.8 EFT) and 22 education support staff (13.75 EFT). Every student, staff member and family is valued as an individual at the college. Every community member has a role to play and the College believes strongly in the connection between school, family and community.
The College¿s mission statement is ¿A united community where everybody has responsibility in preparing youth for their future¿. The College core values are Challenge, Empowerment, Resilience and Respect. Studies such as Music, Languages other than English (Japanese), VET, VCE and VCAL are taught along with traditional subjects at years 7 to 10. A wide variety of extra-curricular programs are provided for students. Intervention programs operate in Literacy in years 7-9.
Classes are set in English and Mathematics, supporting and extending individual skills. Students in Year 9 participate in ¿The Year with a Difference¿ program. The Year 10 program provides students with numerous elective choices so they the opportunity to commence VET studies and have a solid foundation for Year 11 and 12. Students in years 10-12 have the opportunity to accelerate their studies to suit their talents and pathways to life beyond school.

Student Wellbeing
Attendance for 7.6 hrs per day on School days.
Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
The position of Student Wellbeing Leader is one of providing significant support to the College in achieving the government targets of improved retention.
Working within the framework of the College Strategic Plan and the Annual Implementation Plan, the Student Wellbeing Leader will provide counselling advice to students of the College and be required to work in close association with all members of staff to develop policies, programs and implementation strategies to improve engagement and retention at the College.
The Student Wellbeing Leader will:
A. Student Development
Work in close association with others in the wellbeing team, student managers and external agencies in the development and implementation of the policies and practices that support student success, engagement and wellbeing
In consultation with others on-site and outside agencies, identify program needs and support the implementation of flexible programs especially for those identified as being 'at risk'.
B. Student Wellbeing & Support
Identify and assess the barriers being faced by young people.
Provide counselling support to individual students as needed.
Develop and assist in delivering pro-active classroom and extra curricula programs that improve student resilience and wellbeing.
Act as a resource to parents and students through consultation and provision of information, supporting work programs, advice and referral to DET Student Services personnel, government and community agencies.
Liaise with community agencies and education related groups as required.
C. Staff Support, Development and Management
Leading members of the Wellbeing Team.
Working with staff (Year Level Coordinators, Sub-School Leaders, teaching staff) to support students with complex wellbeing needs.
D. Administration and Management
Liaise with agencies
Maintenance of records of referrals
Attendance at relevant committees and forums on youth issues
Assist in the identification of own training needs
Participation in the Performance & Development process
