LaSalle Catholic College is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Student Wellbeing Officer to join a team of education professionals committed to making a positive impact on the lives of their students. This is a temporary part-time role, one day per week - starting the week beginning 25 March 2024.

About the role
This position supports the Student Wellbeing team by undertaking a variety of tasks to ensure all students have the opportunity to be successful at school. This position is within the school’s Student Wellbeing team and has daily interaction with school staff and students. The role of the Student Wellbeing Officer is to support the emotional well-being of students. The National School Wellbeing Program supports schools to provide a school-based role that is recognised as part of the whole school approach to pastoral care.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate:
- ability to be organised, supportive and resourceful
- Experience in mentoring children and/or young people
- Experience in providing support to children and/or young people to address social and emotional needs
- ability to improve the well-being, resilience and prosocial behaviours of students by working in partnership with the Student Wellbeing team to prioritise and deliver small group and whole-school evidence-based intervention, programs and strategies
- capacity to work with the Student Wellbeing team to plan future strategies
- support of the implementation of the school’s whole-school approach to Student Wellbeing priorities, and build positive community relationships
- comply with State and Territory laws and policies in relation to child protection and child safety matters
- comply with, relevant legislation relating to requirements for working with children, data collection and relevant legislation relating to mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse or neglect
- excellent communication skills
- a willingness to support the positive religious and cultural Catholic school environment for students
- any other duties as required by the Principal
You will have attained:-
- Diploma or Certificate IV in an appropriate discipline and relevant work experience in mental health and making appropriate referrals and providing pastoral care and/or working with youth
- an SCS Employee ID Number, by completing the Registration To Work process, or a commitment to complete the registration process
- Student Wellbeing officers are also required to undertake a professional learning package in responding to and preventing cyberbullying delivered by the Office of the eSafety Commissioner within three months of commencing NSWP services and refresh this professional learning at least once every two and a half years.
