Job Summary:
As a Study Manager, you will lead multi-disciplinary and multi-functional teams, across pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies and/or projects in execution, with customers ranging from major blue-chip miners to specialist project developers.
You will provide the main interface with the customers project team and will work collaboratively to achieve desired outcomes, build strong relationships and cultivate new opportunities.
Travel between Bechtel and customer project offices and project sites will be required by the role.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assisting Business Development in expanding current work, developing proposal technical and execution strategies/plans and supporting proposal communications and presentations to customers.
- Ensuring scope, design basis and objectives are defined correctly and managed to agreed timelines, best practices/lessons learned reviewed, detailed work plans, schedules, budgets and procedures are established for addressing critical cross-functional work processes and systems.
- Defining and communicating roles, responsibilities and authorities to project team members/partners and the Customer to ensure project completion in a safe manner, within budget, on schedule, and in conformance with the appropriate standards, specifications and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Managing, coordinating, and administering the project from the conceptual stages through planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, performance testing and close-out.
- Supervising the development of budgets and schedules, managing performance, reporting progress, and initiating action to assure project objectives are met.
- Has overall responsibility for Study/Project execution, ensuring that the Study/Project is delivered within contract requirements, high standards of HSEQ and to Customer and Bechtel performance expectations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited tertiary educator.
- +10 years of experience as a Study/Project Manager working on multi-disciplinary, multi-functional studies or projects in execution in Australia.
- Project management experience across both EPCM and EPC execution models on major, complex projects.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge including engineering processes and procedures, trade-off studies, scope definition, value improvement practices, capital intensity, risk analysis, estimate and schedule baseline development, constructability, records management, progress reporting, action tracking, change management and contingency evaluation.
- Ability to effectively organize staff and project team in a matrix organisation.
- Proficient planning and problem solving skills.
- Dependable leadership qualities and ability to manage customer relations.
- Proficient oral, written and graphic communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence and inspire teams, foster and maintain relationships and work collaboratively to get the best performance outcomes for the project, the team and the customer.
