- Leadership of state and national research programs, managing program key milestones, deadlines and research activities.
- Seeking and responding to RD&E funding opportunities relevant to SARDI and state priorities.
- Writing and developing grant proposals for future funded research programs.
- Communicating research program findings to growers and industry representatives.
- Financial management and report writing associated with the research program, as well as hands-on research activities.
- PhD in an appropriate technical discipline (entomology, agriculture, biology).
- Extensive expertise in invertebrate biology, ecology, taxonomy, and integrated pest management.
- Knowledge of the broad direction, culture and pest challenges facing Australian primary industries
- The successful applicant for this position will have a track record in developing proposals and successful acquisition of grant funding for research projects.
- This is a leadership position and will require applicants with experience in coaching and mentorship, as well as the ability to take a lead on all areas of health, safety and the wellbeing of the team.
- Proven research and communication skills. This position will require the ability to communicate to various key stakeholders both from industry and academia.
- Please note: Interstate, state and international travel will be required in this position
