About the Role
Reporting through to the Superintendent Asset Training Programs, this role will be leading continuous improvement and optimisation for BHP’s Apprentice Program at Olympic Dam. Your team will deliver the onboarding, training, safety and compliance of the apprenticeship program in its initial phases, ultimately supported by your knowledge, coaching and mentorship.
This role will be based the majority of the week on site at Olympic Dam and is offered on a 5/2, 4/3 basis (with flexibility). You can elect to be FIFO ex-Adelaide, DIDO or residential.
In this role you will:
- Oversee the Apprentice Program to ensure it meets customer needs as well as regulatory requirements.
- Ensure strategic alignment of Apprentice Program to the Asset Training Strategy.
- Collaborate with the operational leaders to forecast future operational requirements of the program.
- Identify future trade skill needs and ensure the program is responsive to meet the change in demands.
- Work with industry partners to remain abreast of changes to emerging skills policy and practice.
- Ensure compliance and reporting associated with the Integrated Management System.
- Drive business improvement through the measurement of BHP's performance.
- Produce high quality strategic business cases to influence business outcomes.
- Support the management of vendor/customer selection, contracts, and performance to maximise operational and financial outcomes and mitigate BHP's exposure to risk.
- Provide support for the design and implementation of governance/assurance practices and Management of Change procedures to control value outcomes across BHP.
About You
- Experience with RTO’s, GTO’s or Apprentice programs, managing Traineeship, Apprenticeship and other career pathway programs
- Working knowledge of The South Australian Skills Act 2008, the associated regulations and the skills standards.
- Demonstrated experience within continuous improvement
- Significant site-based experience in Mining or an aligned industry
- Demonstrated experience as a leader where you have had direct reports and/or teams reporting through to you
- Demonstrated commitment to achieving proactive training outcomes
- Change management and culture building capabilities
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills and the ability to engage across a multitude of stakeholders and levels, both internal and external
