Supervisor CMS – Cape Lambert

We are seeking an engaging, safety focused Contractor Management Supervisor (CMS) to join our CLB Maintenance team at the Cape Lambert port. 

This role presents a fantastic opportunity to draw on your people leadership skills, harnessed with your technical knowledge to positively lead contractor work groups. You will have a strong safety leadership focus to ensure the reliability and sustainability of Fixed Plant assets across our Cape Lambert Operation

You will be leading Quality Assurance / Quality Control with our contractor vendor partners working across a broad range of assets, making this role both challenging and interesting. You will have a diverse portfolio looking after not only contactor management but also major maintenance and capital projects execution.

Reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance CLB, you will be: 

  • Oversee Contractor Management and the Iron Ore 5 Steps of CMS
  • Be an inspiring role model and coach for positive behaviours, practices, and processes, whilst providing leadership
  • Lead multi discipline contractor work groups
  • Performs field verifications, safety interactions, displaying safety leadership
  • Ensures work management activities are undertaken in line with work order/job instructions
  • Demonstrate an understanding and comply with the health, safety & environment policies, procedures and initiatives (e.g. leadership in the field, CCC, QSI & CRM)
  • Pre-Task Hazard Assessment – Understanding, use and authorise all pre task hazard tools daily.
  • Managing the day-to-day operations through SAP
  • Managing the engagement and performance of external contractor and suppliers and monitor the quality and standard of services delivered by external contractors
  • Assisting the Maintenance Integration Supervisors to ensure sufficient CMS coverage for all contractor works and provide strong coverage for high-risk projects
  • Perform contractor reviews with vendor partners

What you will need for this role

  • Rio Tinto Contract Management Supervisor Qualification and Exposure managing Contractors
  • Proactive with a commitment in driving a safe and inclusive team culture
  • Have leadership experience and be confident in leading, developing, and coaching team
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and manage multiple programs of change and continuous improvement activities
  • Strong technical aptitude with good fault-finding abilities
  • Working towards or holding High Risk Licences including Elevated Work Platform, Forklift, Confined Space, Working at Heights seen as advantageous but is not essential
  • Have experience in fixed plant maintenance and operation
  • Have a good understanding in the use of SAP
  • CL Permit Officer Qualification
  • Hold a current “C Class” WA Manual Driver’s License

Where you’ll be working

Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
