About the Role

The Supervisor: Performing and Visual ArtsEvents & Programs focuses on leading, directing and supporting the work of the Artists in Residence and creative team within the Arts team. This involves a variety of Archdiocesan events, exhibitions and programs. Reporting to the Manager: Performing and Visual Arts, this is a vital role in ensuring that the Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) values are drivers for establishing a thriving Catholic community. 

The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • supervising events and exhibitions within the 10 Year Arts Project Plan, ensuring all Archdiocesan, Network and bespoke events are delivered to an excellent standard and follow system processes
  • leading the Arts team in the overall direction of events across the diocese
  • leading the student development programs and working with stakeholders to create opportunities with strategic partners
  • working closely with the Manager: Performing and Visual Arts on executing agreed goals and objectives in accordance with the Education & Research directorate
  • facilitating, and ensuring rigour of a high standard, in the recruitment, induction and operational leadership of Artistic Advisors, Artists In Residence and creative support roles
  • leading and facilitating a rigorous procurement process to select high performing industry partners to work with the Arts Team in delivering Archdiocesan major events
  • initiating, leading and project managing major system performance projects and Archdiocesan events across SCS for school and community involvement
  • supporting the management of communications and marketing opportunities through the Arts Project, working across directorates to ensure a  streamlined message to all stakeholders
  • managing budgets for multiple projects and programs
  • any other duties as directed from time to time.

About You

We are seeking a professional candidate with the following experience, skills and knowledge:

  • university degree in Performing or Visual Arts or Education
  • tertiary qualifications in Education or Teaching
  • evidenced accomplishment in Performing or Visual Arts
  • experienced in leading event teams 
  • a minimum of five years experience in a leadership role 
  • meeting all aspects of the proficient teacher in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and operating at the level of a highly accomplished teacher in accordance with the NESA teaching standards (although they may not formally hold this accreditation)
  • ability to evaluate success of Performing and Visual Arts programs and events
  • demonstrated ability to articulate contemporary Performing and Visual Arts trends in both local and international contexts
  • experienced in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives
  • high order written, oral and presentation skills
  • ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.

Desirable:

  • demonstrated success in a similar role
  • middle leadership experience in a school
  • current driver’s licence and access to a car
  • is a practising Catholic with demonstrated evidence of ongoing commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and engagement in the life of a Catholic faith community such as a parish or an established community within the Catholic Church, as an expression of their relationship with Jesus Christ.
