The opportunity
The purpose of the Supply Chain Manager is to spearhead network optimization, advanced planning, and product strategy. This role required coordination across sourcing, sales, marketing, manufacturing, logistics, and distribution to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
The Supply Chain Manager drives continuous improvement
initiatives through strategic analysis and collaboration, ensuring agility in response to market dynamics while meeting business objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leadership and Culture
- Follow a process-based approach and use risk-based thinking with a lifecycle perspective to deliver customer and statutory requirements
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the management systems and processes applicable to this role
- In conjunction with your Manager set objectives and development actions to ensure your ongoing career growth and development within the business
- Implement strategies to build and maintain a positive team environment within and across departments
- Ad hoc duties, projects and reporting as required
Health, Safety, Quality and Environment Management Systems
- Provide leadership and ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Quality and Environment Management System policies and procedures
- Actively engage and participate with company quality, health, safety, environment, and well-being initiatives and encourage the involvement of all stakeholders
- Actively engage and participate in company environmental protection initiatives and the prevention of pollution
- Report all hazards, incidents, injuries and near misses in accordance with the relevant procedures
- Be proactive in your approach to Health, Safety, Quality and Environment
- Consider environmental sustainability, responsible sourcing, quality and Safety requirements when making strategic decisions
- Support the business sustainability strategy by embedding environmental sustainability and responsible sourcing in everything we do
- Promote values and systems to embed safety, quality and sustainability into the culture and ways of working
Production and Dry goods
- Liaise with Purchasing Manager on purchasing plan, pricing, and contracts
- Utilise integrated enterprise resource planning system for the ordering of dry goods, generation of dry good stock items and the maintenance of stock levels.
- Liaise with Winemaker, Operations Controller, and other relevant teams (such as Business Development) to determine market demand and plan labelling / packing accordingly
- Utilise integrated enterprise resource planning system for the generation and completion of all production runs including waste management
Distribution
- Liaise with various export agents/shipping lines/transport companies for shipment of wines to ensure quality of delivery
- Manage freight costs
- Support group tendering process
- Manage delivery performance
Market Relationships
- To establish and sustain a productive relationship with key client contacts
- To represent the business as a professional, responsive, and committed partner to the success and continuous improvement of the contract
- To be available to the client to discuss in an open and collaborative manner any concerning issues. Takes ownership over ensuring solutions are promptly actioned
- To communicate effectively with clients and foster an environment of trust and in a manner, which promotes understanding of effective work outcomes
- Communicate relevant changes with Business Development teams and markets
About you
- Tertiary qualifications at degree level in a relevant discipline.
- 5 years' work experience in a relevant field or industry
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the FMCG/retail industry, with demonstrated knowledge of Supply Chain management, logistics, warehousing, purchasing, and distribution
- Sound knowledge and understanding of logistics and inventory management processes
- Process mindset with ability to analyse and evaluate Supply Chain designs
- Excellent people skills, with high-level communication abilities coupled with a track record of leading, motivating and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Proficiency using Supply Chain management tools: WMS/ERP systems experience, with knowledge of e-comm integrated software preferred.
