Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.
In this role
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Supply Supervisor is required to provide direction, daily oversight, coaching and training to ensure all processes and standards are adhered to. You will be responsible for providing a safe and efficient warehousing service to all end-user customers, to support and sustain ongoing operations and maintenance activities. It is the responsibility of the Supply Supervisor to ensure asset protection and security of inventory is maintained within the warehouse and surrounding storage locations as well as ensuring accuracy between the physical items and the Inventory Management System stock levels, to ensure a high level of material availability.
Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure work activities are performed in accordance with established Company Standards, Standard Operating Processes Handbook (SOPH), Policies, Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Maintain a pro-active approach and focus towards both team and end-user customer service while maintaining strong working relationships with the team, suppliers and customers.
  • Seek out to gain a thorough working knowledge of SCM standards, policies, procedures and work instructions relating to Supply Chain Management activities and provide feedback for continuous improvement of processes.
  • Maintain safe practices and environmental awareness in the Supply Department in order to achieve an increased level of safety awareness that will enable an injury free workplace.
  • Ensure incoming freight deliveries, validation checks are performed against incoming documentation to ensure accuracy and cargo transit damage and discrepancies are reported daily.

  • Ensure discrepancy reports for deliveries where i) Oversupply, ii) Undersupply, iii) Incorrect supply or iv) Damaged goods are being created and issued.
  • Verify that accurate physical cyclic stocktaking at all warehouse and laydown locations is being performed and investigate variances.
  • Ensure that inventory items are stored and binned in the correct storage location and update bin location changes upon receipt to ensure system and physical stock accuracy with no more than two storage locations per site.
  • Ensure process receipts data is input in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Conduct investigations of stock discrepancies and prepare reports as required.
  • Resolves negative stock-on-hand balances and ensure stock rotation practices are adhered to.
  • Ensure credit returns are processes in a prompt and accurate manner and that the Inventory Analyst has been advised to review and determine if any outstanding orders are no longer required and can be cancelled as a result of credit returns.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
The must have's
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Working at Heights, load restraint, DG Handling certificates and & forklift licence
  • Well developed computer skills inclusive of ERP experience and problem solving skills
  • Ability to lead a team in a fast-moving 24hr operation
The highly regarded
  • Previous stores and warehousing experience in a Mining, Oil and Gas, Construction or Heavy Earthmoving Industry
  • Experience in leadership of Warehousing / Supply area at a remote site or project environment.
  • Current “HR” Class Drivers Licence
  • Rigging/lifting certification
  • Warehousing and Logistics Certification

The roster on offer will see the successful incumbent working a 2:2 (14 days on, 14 days off) roster with the requirement to work nightshift for 7 consecutive nights every second roster cycle.
