Salary Range: $76,754 to $126, 236 (based on skills and experience) plus superannuation (paid pro rata for part-time appointments) 
Start Date: Monday, 22 July 2024

About Mother Teresa Primary School
Mother Teresa School caters for students from four years of age, where students are enrolled in our Early Learning Centre, to students in Year Six. Our school motto “do small things with great love” inspires us to care for fellow members of our school community as well as reach out into the wider community. About the Role 
An excellent and rewarding opportunity exists for an energetic and passionate Classroom Support Teacher to join our welcoming, wonderful school. To be successful in this role, you will have well-developed self-awareness and the personal capabilities of reflection on your own performance, with an aim to continue to grow and develop as a classroom practitioner. You will support the organisation of the Diverse Learning team, including CSAs to achieve best outcomes for all students including those with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instructional support to individual and/or groups of students, across all years of primary school
  • Provide support to teaching staff in mixed ability classes and in their dealings with students with diverse needs 
  • Implement modifications and adaptations to the environment or teaching materials
  • Maintain records related to personal timetables and student(s) progress including the development of Personal Plans and the collection of data regarding student(s) goals/objectives
  • Research, develop and prepare resources and teaching aids for students with diverse needs
  • Create a learning environment which stimulates learning and promotes excellence, and which accepts and acknowledges the needs of students to be both challenged and supported
  • Plan, prepare, record and evaluate learning activities designed for the specific needs of students with diverse needs
  • Communicate with parents in written reports and during parent teacher interviews and at other times as required
  • Communicate with allied health professionals
  • Development of a strong Diverse Learning culture with CSAs

Qualifications 

  • Relevant Education/ Teaching tertiary qualification; and
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration and ACT Teaching Quality Institute Accreditation

Selection Criteria 

  1. Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills and able to engage positively with colleagues, students and parents;
  2. The capacity to be a proactive member of a professional learning community complying with legal, administrative and professional requirements;
  3. Classroom practices and organisational skills that create supportive and safe environments for all students, including meeting a variety of diverse learning needs;
  4. A sound knowledge of the Australian Curriculum with the ability to organise, select and design content for effective teaching and learning;
  5. An understanding of the principles of child protection and confidentiality;
  6. Successful planning and implementation of programs that support the diverse needs of students; and
  7. A comprehensive understanding of assessment and reporting strategies and the need to provide effective and timely feedback to parents and students.

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.
