I am a young man in my 20’s with a keen interest in all things Disney and song. I have a rare disease called battens disease. My brother and I are supported by almost the same conditions in our home, but we both have such different personalities. My cheeky younger brother and I live with our family; parents and two brothers. I go through highs and lows and require keen attention to make sure my condition does not worsen. Vision loss, seizures, delayed developmental milestones, and loss of language and motor skills characterise my condition's current state. Skilled Manual Handling is required to support my daily routine and a positive attitude to fill my days with joy and laughter as my team do. We all love a good laugh and a joke.
Teamwork is the name of the game. There is a lot to do, and my team does it with an industrious eye for detail, a Disney song, and a can-do attitude. Feeling cared for is an important part of this support. Gentle, strong hands and reassuring voices allow me to relax and feel supported. This is the quality our team is seeking to maintain as we recruit.
