Hedland Women’s Refuge is a not-for-profit organisation committed to providing 24 hour safe and supportive accommodation for women, with or without children, who are escaping family and domestic violence or who are homeless due to safety.
We are seeking a passionate team member who is committed to empowering and supporting women and children to stay safe in the Hedland community.
As a Support Worker you will work alongside clients and their wider support network to achieve individual case management goals, make informed decisions and choices that support safety and wellbeing. Part of this role is to support the day to day operations of Hedland Womens Refuge.
Our ideal candidate is:
- Collaborative, has exceptional integrity and upholds confidentiality
- Has a strong understanding and proven experience of engaging and working alongside the local aboriginal community
- Ability to easily build rapport and develop relationships which support positive service delivery
- Understands and advocates for change of presenting issues of family and domestic violence, particularly against women and their children
- Ability to manage emergency situations and comply with policies and procedures when under pressure
- Has proven knowledge and application of professional boundaries
Requirements of the position include:
- Hold a valid Working with Children Check
- Hold a valid Police Clearance no greater than three months old
- Hold a current valid driver’s license
- First Aid qualification
- Right to work in Australia
- Proficient in computer literacy
- Working within a team that encourages continuous improvement and supports the whole of the organisation
