We are currently seeking passionate and keen Support Worker – Community Foundation Skills, to join our PCYC Aurukun Youth Club. If you are enthusiastic and have a gusto for increasing youth involvement in programs and events, then we want you!
Community Foundation Skills offers assistance to young people aged 15 and above with low-level language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills. This program will equip young people with the knowledge and confidence to participate successfully in a modern knowledge economy.

Your New Role
The Support Worker will provide individualised one-on-one support and assistance to aid disadvantaged people with low level language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills to equip them with the knowledge and confidence to participate successfully in a modern knowledge economy. The Support Worker will provide information, advice, and referrals to services the person needs when appropriate. The role will work towards the Association’s mission of improving communities through youth development as well as meeting the needs of the Queensland Government’s – Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative – Community Foundations Skills Program.
About You
- Minimum Certificate III in youth work, community development/welfare, human services or related discipline or equivalent level experience in social and community sector.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in undertaking the range of activities required
- Effective time management skills with a demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines and commitments
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships with stakeholders including young people from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Intermediate skills in the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Eligibility for a QLD Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and National Police Check
- Hold, or eligible to obtain, a light rigid driver’s licence, eligible to obtain an RDA if required
- Hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate
Please note: Working With Children Check (Blue Card) No Card, No Start and Restricted Person legislation applies. All PCYC employees are required to complete a National Police Check upon commencement.
