The Opportunity
Visy is a global leader in packaging and resource recovery and has been a pioneer in sustainability since our inception. Utilising our unique closed loop systems, we collect and sort paper, cardboard, glass, plastics and metals from multiple streams, maximising recyclable content to be re-manufactured into valuable packaging and, in the process, reducing both reliance on natural resources and waste going to landfill.

We have an exciting new role for a passionate and detail-oriented Sustainability Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role will play a crucial part in analyzing, evaluating, and support the sustainability initiatives across our operations, contributing significantly to our commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. The role could be based at any of our Visy sites Australia wide for the right candidate.
The Role
Reporting to the Sustainability Manager - Carbon and Climate you will be involved in driving sustainable outcomes through data collecting and analysis, policy and document reviews, developing reports and training to develop analysis and insights as part of the wider sustainability strategy.
Working strategically towards long-term goals, your key responsibilities will be but not limited to:
- Support the identification, analysis and integration of climate-related risks and opportunities
- Coordinate the calculation of Visy’s scope 3 GHG emissions
- Support the delivery of Visy’s climate-related disclosures.
- Contribute to the delivery of carbon and climate-related projects and outcomes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement sustainability projects and initiatives that align with corporate objectives.
- Conduct research on emerging sustainability trends, technologies, and best practices to inform decision-making.
- Engage with internal stakeholders, providing guidance and support on sustainable practices and metrics.
- Work towards automating data collection and reporting, identifying key trends, insights and areas for continuous improvement.
To be considered you must have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Business or a related field.
- Solid experience in a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing or packaging industry.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools like Excel or Power BI
- Knowledge of sustainability regulations, carbon accounting, life cycle assessment, and circular economy principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and drive change.
- You pride yourself on your outstanding communications skills and it is your ability to build relationships with external and internal stakeholders from all levels that makes you a true enabler.
