Swim Coach

The Townsville Tourist Amateur Swimming Club (TTASC), established in 1923 and operating from the historic Tobruk Memorial Baths on The Strand in Townsville, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Swim Coach to join our coaching team. TTASC holds the distinction of being the oldest operating club in Townsville, with a rich history of nurturing swimmers of all levels. We pride ourselves on providing an inclusive swimming environment that welcomes individuals of all abilities and levels, promoting fitness and personal development.TTASC, together with the Strand Swim School (SSS) have created an environment that brings swimmers from their first swim class right the way through to National finals. Both the TTASC and SSS’s primary objective is to create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for swimmers, offering a professional and caring environment that encourages and celebrates personal growth and the achievement of individual goals. We aim to install a genuine passion for the sport, while also promoting long-term success, well-being, and overall wellness.The role will work closely with and support the Head Coach and our coaching team to improve the swimming standard and assist swimmers to achieve their goals. The Swim Coach has a responsibility to ensure the swimmers have a fun and positive experience.We are looking for a passionate individual who has a strong track record in developing swimmers of all ages. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching and coaching, with aspirations in developing State and National qualifying athletes. They will be committed to providing a supportive and motivating environment for our swimmers, helping them achieve their full potential.Key Responsibilities:Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Plan and deliver senior squad sessions in collaboration with the Head Coach.
• Plan and deliver safe, effective, and enjoyable junior squad sessions that enhance swimmers' abilities.
• Promote a strong work ethic and commitment to the program, motivating swimmers to attain their swimming goals and achieve competitive success at the club, development, state and national levels.
• Assist the Head Coach in determining the target event schedule for the squads.
• Attend skill session stroke clinics, squad events, coaches' meetings, and other coaching seminars/workshops as required.
• Be present at meets/events/competitions as required, providing on-deck support, overseeing operations (such as warm-up and cool-down), and offering performance feedback.

• Prior coaching experience is essential.
• Ability to build strong relationships with swimmers and stakeholders.
• Leadership and collaboration skills, willingness to engage and mentor swimmers.
• Positive attitude and passion for helping swimmers achieve their full potential.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to work with the club committee and the SSS.
• Adaptable and engaging teaching style.
• Ability to form relationships with the committee, parents, and swimmers within the club.

• Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
• Swim Australia Foundation Coach (previously Swim Australia Teacher of Competitive Swimming).
