About the role:
Boyne Tannum Swim Club is currently seeking a Head Coach who has the necessary experience and motivation to create a program that caters to swimmers of all levels, from
Juniors to those wanting to compete at National level. This full time position is based in Tannum Sands, a coastal town in Central Queensland.
The program has a squad of 170 swimmers, ranging from Learn to Swim beginners, right up to those competing and winning medals at National events.
This is a great opportunity to build upon an already strong foundation.
Key responsibilities:
(a) Coach competitive swimmers and teach non-competitive swimmers in a safe and positive environment.
(b) Produce a season training schedule at least four weeks before the start of the season, detailing when each training session will take place, for approval by the Executive Committee.
(c) Identify a set of desired coaching/teaching outcomes for various swimmer ages and levels of ability, and develop and maintain written structured training programmes for these different levels.
(d) Devise clear, structured, written lesson plans for each individual training session at all levels.
(e) Provide support to assistant and junior coaches, LTS Teachers including suitable lesson plans as outlined above, and hold regular meetings with these coaches/teachers.
(f) Assist and oversee the professional development and training of all assistant and junior coaches/teachers. The Head Coach has the right to allocate teachers / coaches to squads as they see appropriate based on qualifications, experience and for the benefit of the swimmers and to maximise harmony and motivation across the team program.
(g) Take a particular interest in the Competitive swimmers group, including evaluating the progress of these swimmers and devising personal development plans and goals for them, and providing coaching support at all inter-club meets;
(h) Attend all inter-club and club meets, and provide support to the swimmers attending these meets.
(i) Attendance at carnivals with less than 5 swimmers is not mandatory.
(j) SQ State and National Carnivals in attendance by the coach.
(k) Ensure club members follow BTSC code of conduct.
(l) Maintain supervision of groups at all times and ensure the Tannum Pool, (Waratah Crescent) safety code is followed.
(m) Foster a feeling of team spirit among club members.
(n) Have high standards of conduct, and maintain good relations with swimmers, parents, other coaches, committee members and everyone else involved in BTSC at all times.
(o) Self-educate so that recognised personal first-aid, lifesaving and coaching qualifications are kept current and up to date. * ASCTA membership must be held.
(p) Set up and tidy up lane ropes and equipment as required at the start of the first training session and end of the final session of each day;
(q) Coach to report all incidents/accidents to a committee member ASAP. Accident report to be completed and submitted to President ASAP.
(r) Complete a satisfactory criminal record check.
(s) Must hold a current blue card.

· Demonstrated ability in building a successful and sustainable program.
·Experience with building squad programs and Club participation with a contemporary approach to athlete development pathways.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with swimmers and
stakeholders and take them on the journey to their personal best.
- Leadership and collaboration skills, willingness to engage and mentor
junior coaches whilst open to continued personal and professional development.
· Strong communication skills, strategic vision and prior coaching experience.
· Experience coaching at national level or higher is a must.
The qualifications required for this role are:
· Coaching accreditation – Advanced coach licence and/or international advanced coaching is required
· Current Blue Card
· Current CPR
· Willing to undergo a National Police Check
