Swimming CoachMarist College Ashgrove is a Catholic day and boarding school for boys in Years 5-12, situated in Brisbane's inner Northern suburbs. Inspired by the work of St Marcellin Champagnat, we pride ourselves on delivering excellent academic and career pathway results for our inclusive community of students.The MCA swimming program is a premier division club in the Brisbane metropolitan area. The role will involve developing the Marist College Ashgrove mini squads. Our coaches are a team of qualified and dedicated professionals who are committed to training swimmers to achieve strong results at Regional, State and National Levels.The PositionWe are seeking applicants who enjoy swimming, love working with children through to young adults and want to teach the skills and attributes of competitive swimming and water safety to others. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to communicate and interact effectively with swimmers that have a diverse range of ages, abilities, and needs.MCA Swimming offers a squad program focused on developing long term athletes through the excellence of technique. Demonstrating the ability to work effectively both independently and as a strong and valuable part of the team. Duties will include teaching and coaching all levels of the mini squads; planning squad sessions; attend club nights and local swim meets.The successful applicant will be an experienced, reliable, vibrant and enthusiastic coach with an excellent understanding of swimming to work closely with our Head Coach.The position is expected to start as soon as possible or at a negotiated start date. This is a part time 18 hours a week during term-time role. The position will be paid $32.00 per hour plus super. Penalties apply for work on weekends, before 6am & after 6pm.As one of the swim instructors, you will undertake a range of duties such as:
- Conduct safe and enjoyable mini squad classes for various ages and levels.
- Provide customers with an excellent standard of customer service and at the same time facilitate a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience.
- Conduct training before and after school and on weekends.
- Establish and maintain positive, professional communication with broader college community.
- Attend club nights and local swim meets (when required)
- Actively promote the squad program and participation in the Swimming Club.
- Having a working knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety in relation to coaching and pool maintenance.
- AustSwim or Swim Australia Accreditation is mandatory.
- Must hold current First Aid Certificate (including CPR)
- All applicants must hold, a Blue Card issued by Blue Card QLD.
- Must have a strong understanding of the technical aspects of competitive strokes and be knowledgeable in the area of skills – Start, Turns and Finishes.
