You will provide an effective & efficient communications service and information to all Hospital staff, external agencies and the general public
Hospital Switchboard operations – Ensure Calls are answered in an appropriate manner and all callers are treated in a polite and courteous manner
Demonstrate high levels of communication skills appropriate to Switchboard functions
Operation and management of Hospital Paging system
Receipt, management and coordination of all Emergency Codes
Provide accurate patient enquiry information
Collation, maintenance and dissemination of information relating to Doctors, Medical & After-hours rosters
Provide accurate information to Hospital staff in relation to on-call staff, clinical rosters and directory information
Classifications for this position will range from HS1 - HS17 ($58, 442 - $63,138 per annum pro rata)
Your Contribution
Experience in a health service environment is essential
Demonstrated high level communication and organisational skills
Strong computer literacy
Sound typing skills
Experience in a switchboard setting
Ability to participate as a member of a team in a dynamic work environment
Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
Must be self-directing and demonstrate initiative
Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

St Vincent’s Switchboard is located within the Inpatient Services Building at Fitzroy and operates 24 hours 7 days per week. Switchboard Operators manage a nucleus of information for staff, patients, relatives and external agencies
