Role accountabilities:
Your day-to-day activities will include but not limited to:
- Promote and ensure the appropriate standards of health, safety and environmental management are adhered to.
- Prepare schedules for preliminary and detailed designs of signalling systems that comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor progress and initiate remedial action where required to ensure signalling projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Supervise the preparation of documentation for standards and specifications concerning signalling systems
- Provide high-level technical support for all signalling projects as required;
- Act as independent checker verifying signalling designs and application data prepared by others;
- Participate in factory acceptance testing and site testing of signalling systems and equipment;
- Participate in the commissioning of signalling systems;
- Report on signalling projects as required;
- Develop individual and team competence.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in signal design within the rail industry, including large scale multi-disciplinary complex signalling projects.
- Previous experience in interlocking design, ideally in MicrolokII, ElectrologIXS and similar interlocking.
- Previous experience in signalling interface circuits and application logic design.
- Knowledge of core railway signalling principles and various Australian Railway Operator (ARO) standards and practices.
- Proficient in drafting software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation or other similar software.
- Good understanding of signalling interface components related to other disciplines' design, such as Track, Civil, OLE and Communication.
- Strong interpersonal and communicational skills and ability to liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and alliance partners
- Degree qualified in Electrical or Electronic or other relevant engineering disciplines
- Maintaining up to date logbook and being able to process any competency accreditation
- Membership in relevant professional institution.
- Level crossing, predictor and ATP design experience.
- Experience in PTA Metronet and Arc Infrastructure projects.
- Previous team leading, design management and client interface experience.
- Familiarity with 3D modelling and awareness of safety assurance requirements
- Background in communication system design
- Engineers Australia Professional Engineer or any Australian Rail Operators (ARO) accreditation
