Role and Responsibilities
- Promote and ensure the appropriate standards of health, safety and environmental management are adhered to.
- Prepare schedules for preliminary and detailed designs of signalling systems that comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor progress and initiate remedial action where required to ensure signalling projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Supervise the preparation of documentation for standards and specifications concerning signalling systems
- Provide high-level technical support for all signalling projects as required;
- Act as independent checker verifying signalling designs and application data prepared by others;
- Participate in factory acceptance testing and site testing of signalling systems and equipment;
- Participate in the commissioning of signalling systems;
- Report on signalling projects as required;
- Develop individual and team competence.
Key Performance Metrics:
- Health, Safety and Environment (TBC);
- Projects executed within scheduled timeframes;
- Projects executed within allocated budgets generating profit;
- Identify new projects and additional works for existing projects/clients;
- Maintain and foster relationships with all stakeholders.
Working Relationships:
- The Senior Signalling Engineer works close with Engineering Staff, the PMO and Project Management;
- Maintains and fosters relationships with current and potential stakeholders, preferred clients, service providers, contractors, subcontractors and employees.
- Previous experience in interlocking design, ideally in MicrolokII, ElectrologIXS and similar interlocking.
- Previous experience in signalling interface circuits and application logic design.
- Knowledge of core railway signalling principles and various Australian Railway Operator (ARO) standards and practices.
- Proficient in drafting software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation or other similar software.
- Good understanding of signalling interface components related to other disciplines’ design, such as Track, Civil, OLE and Communication.
- Strong interpersonal and communicational skills and ability to liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and alliance partners
- Degree qualified in Electrical or Electronic or other relevant engineering disciplines
- Maintaining up to date logbook and being able to process any competency accreditation
